Monmore Puppy Derby - Round 1 Report

Just back from the track, thought I'd record my racecard comments.

Heat 1
1st Droopys Ivanovic - Good performance to win in 28.64, still more to come.
2nd Droopys Mikel - Can't see him coming from behind top class dogs, need rails.
Ballymac Under - With that average trial the locals were not interested in him. He missed it then showed great early only to be slaughtered at the bend. For me disappointing as he should have still qualified from his position down the back.

Heat 2
1st-Harmony Boy - Who said Crash offspring had no early. Stole the race with early dash. Winning time 28.60.
2nd-Droopys Enzo - Why they ran this dog last week at Sheffield who knows. Very naughty boy and gave the winner a right rough time round to the pick up. Springbok entry ?
3rd-Coolavanny Dart - Will need to improve rapidly to feature next week.

Heat 3
1st-Ardmayle Champ - Missed it but was very brave when going round in front. 28.56.
2nd-Lenson Threeways - Needs to hit lids to feature next week.
3rd- Sick Sultan - Ran well from a poor draw.

Heat 4
1st - Burnpark Champ - Simply fantastic, showed everything, suited to midde draw. FTON 28.07!!
2nd- Coolavanny Train - Could have been a lot closer except for being forced to check on 2nd bend.
3rd - Titan Tyrone - Will need to start now to feature next week.

Heat 5
1st-Swift James - Stayed better than in last Trial Stake, still improving and has great attitude. Could struggle in a race with a lot of early pace. 28.64. With only two wides will get solo next week.
2nd-Cherryhill Boys - Benefited from good draw tonight, no chance next week.
3rd- Unique Picture - Solo wide next week is his only hope.

Heat 6
1st- Ballymac Ken - Won it with early pace. 28.54. Really not my idea of winner.
2nd- Gold Whisper - May show up again well next week. Nice sort.
3rd- Ard Engine - Battled hard after running in to all sorts of trouble.
Barnfield Loretto - Missed break cost him dear, one to follow for sure.
