Burty the Charmer

It was great to see the Martin Burt trained Ardera Charm win the Ladbrokes 630 Final at Monmore this afternoon. Martin and his team proved yet again given the dog they can do the business. It just proves what a high grade Monmore actually is.

Come Back Result

The Prince ran very well this evening in his come back race at Monmore. He broke ok but there were plenty of 4 bend early paced dogs who led him round. He rallied well down the back straight and ran on well to finish second getting beaten by 2 4/4 lengths in 29.15.

Walthamstow.......the end

Over 6,000 people attended the so called Walthamstow Farewell Gala Evening on Saturday. They arrived to pay their respects to a stadium which has stood in London E4 for 75years, and they largely partied, a roar of Derby night proportions welcoming the trap-rise of every single of the 14 races on an emotionally charged night. It was drama, excitement, sadness and hope in equal measures.

It just shows what is possible with marketing power to get that many people to watch the dogs race. It's easy to see why our sport won't be around in ten years. In this country we simply don't have one stadium like Shelbourne Park to back up the marketing power if it was available. Just look at some of our tracks, lets be honest what would anyone new coming in to the sport think of those terraces at Wimbledon home to the English Derby. We have a sport driven by promotors reducing every cost possible at the cost of the dog and the customer.

Mark my words the Walthamstow saga will be coming to track near to us all very soon.

Syndicate Social Booked and Paid

Just a quick note to let you know that I have completed our payment to Monmore for the social on 27th September.

The meeting time will be 6.45-7.00pm to plan in your diary.

Make sure you plan ahead and get your partners to drive.

I have the tickets and will distribute at the start of September.

Countdown to Kennels

Jameson is spending his last few weeks in the open paddocks before he has to head inside to the schooling kennels. He is doing everything Pauls asks of him and is building is fitness up well.

He considers himself very regal and does not like to get involved with the rest of the litter he is in with. I'm in the process of collecting one late payment (as usual) then I'll send Paul a cheque.

Flying Trial

The Prince recorded 29.18 (-20) at Monmore this morning when winning by 13 lengths. He is now on the card and could well run this week probably Saturday. Getmeadoctor who went three rounds of the Derby did only 28.95 (-20) to stamp the form

Can't wait..................With 17 wins from 72 starts lets hope he can stay well and fit for another six months before we discuss retiring him to a happy home.

Prince on Come Back Trail

The Prince returned to the track for the first time after his lengthy lay off. He recorded a very pleasing 15.74 winning his sprint trial by two and three quater lengths.

Avenue Guide is nearing peak fitness and finished second for the second time since he trurned to action.
