Eagle has Landed

The Jimmy in Boys latest recruit arrived at 4.30am on Saturday morning. Her name is Yourplaceormine and I dropped her off at Martin's kennels after a short walk down the lanes and around the field. She has been kindly leased us by coursing legend Paddy Flatherty from County Kerry. She will return to Paddy when required to do so.

Her kennel name is Cheryl. In Ireland she ran in three races winning one in 29.57. On that time she could be a very useful recruit for us. If you click on her name you will be able to click on her pedigree. She is bred very well being by Spiral Nikita out of I'm Only Sal who broke Tracks Records over the longer trips in Tralee. The whole litter are winning in Ireland.

We have eight members in the syndicate comprising of myself, Rob Evans(Foxy), Heather Wheeler, Ray Allen, Bob Allen, Brian Grieve, Guy Palmer and Mark Strutt. Please ensure you keep up to date with your payments. I will post all updates on the Blog and send out my usual emails.

She looks in great condition however she gave the impression she had a rough journey over. I went over to the kennels on Sunday morning to take her out for a long walk. To start with she kept her tail right between her legs giving the impression she was rather nervy. However on the way back and trip in to the field she seemed to grow in confidence.

Pirate Disappoints

Another disappointing evening at Coventry as Pirate fluffed his lines again and whilst she showed some pace he never got in to the race. RRRubbish!!!

Belle in Pup ?

Paul called from Drumscraw Kennels in Northen Ireland this afternoon to let me know that Belle has gone right off her food and is giving him the indications she could be in pup. Its only been 3 weeks so its still early day but fingers crossed.

So Close for Iceman

Iceman Vader(Trap 1 Red Jacket) had absolute no luck when going down by just a length to Barrie Drapers dog in the £10,000 Gold Cup. Turning third we thought we had a great chance. When trying to overtake at the third the favourie checked forcing Vader to change his stride and stopping momentum. He ran on well but couldn't pull back the advantage. We collected our each way money but it could have been even better. Lance hit back straight away when Iceman Brutus( pictured with lads) landed the Ladbrokes Gold Cup 630.

Avenue Strikes Again

Avenue Guide (Sammy) had to dig deep to clear the dog in Trap 6 yesterday. He forced clear and showed a nice bit of pace again to go clear and then stay on much better to land his third win from 7 starts. The winning time was 29.11(+30).
With it being the summer holidays I went up to watch with the lads. The picture shows them greeting Sammy after his win.

Gold Cup Day

Big day on Friday as Avenue Guide and Lisa'a Invader both run on the undercard of the Monmore Gold Cup. The Prince's last two run have been below form so lets hope he can bounce back. Both dogs need a fast track so fingers crossed for the warm weather to continue. Fingers crossed for Lance's Iceman Vader who we have backed EW (first four) at 20/1 in the Gold Cup. If he clears any early trouble he could well push the favourite close. Also running in the stayers Final is Iceman Brutus(Pictured) who took Westmead Hawks track record on Monday.

Zigzag Pirate heads to Coventry on Sunday. Lance has seeded him middle on the hope of keeping closer to the action. He has drawn Trap 5 anyway.

Go on Henry

Henry (Positive Outlook) landed the odds for our GlobalGreyhounds Syndicate in a tough A2 at Swindon on Friday afternoon. It the first time I have backed the dogs since his previous win. Great info Dave!!

Avenue Guide ran a promosing third last night at Monmore despite the massive bias on the track favouring the inside dogs. The form could be even better than it looks on paper. There was only one dog that won from 5 or 6 the whole night.

Yourplaceormine

I have been kindly leased a fawn bitch called Yourplaceormine (file photo) from my good Kerry friend Paddy. The bitch will be joining Martin Burt and run in syndicate name. She will hopefully travel over at the backend of next week. I'm just chasing the last couple of people up then the syndicate members can be formally confirmed. Iceman Vader landed his heat in the Gold Cup and now progresses to Fridays Semi Final.

No Winners

No luck with the dogs this week. Avenue, Lisa's and Positive were all unplaced. Pirate showed some real pace at Coventry before the hare rail snapped and the race finished instantly. However he was never going to catch Peter Billinghams pup.

This afternoon we went to watch Syndicate members Brians horse run in a 2 year old condition race. He ran on very well to finish 3rd. We met Micheal Owen in the Owners and Trainers lounge as his horse was running in a previous race.

The Monmore Gold Cup starts tomorrow so fingers crossed for Iceman Vader.

Sunday Catchup

Me and youngest took Avenue Guide and Lisa Invader out for our normal Sunday morning walk today. Now the ground has dried out we can take them cross country rather than just on the roads. Avenue (Sammy) is starting to grow on me. He is starting to feel more confident and seems to have settled in well and more importantly he enjoying some love and attention. Fingers crossed both will be out on Thursday.

Kerry News

Plenty of news from Kerry. Our name request for Spanish Archer was declined so the coursing dog is now called Gone Barmy. He was recently weighed at over 100 lbs. Paddy always has a number of people visted his range such is his reputation in coursing. This week he was visted by none other than Liam Marks who gave our lad the thumbs up of appoval. He leaves for the coursing legend kennels of Dan Brassil this week.

Paddys is flying at the moment as his dog Iflookscouldkill is mopping up the marthon races in Ireland at the moment. He is breaking track record after track record. He recorded yet another win and record on Saturday in Galway. I'm keeping my fingers crossed he runs at Shelbourne on Derby Final night.

Disappointment & Faith

ZigZag Pirate left us disappointed on Tuesday. He was in a very tough race which included a Gymcrack Finalist however I did expect more than he showed. Lance is intending to try a few differnet things with him. So we must have faith.
